The Birth of Urban Planning

According to the Ancient word the Greek Philosopher named Hippodamus founded urban planning in late 5th century he was the first person to plan a Town with the urban layout of that time.

Aristotle used to say him the Father of the City planning.

later at 20th century he was regarded as the father of the city planning by all the scholar's & People.

The modern Urban Planning emerged as discipline in 1900s in Great Britain in the University of Liverpool in 1909 & in North America in 1924 at Harvard University.

 

 

What does Urban means?

It is the region surrounding a city. Maximum people living in urban areas do non-agricultural work. These areas are very ahead in the field of development, mean there are many Artificial structures such as houses, buildings, roads, bridges, and railways. The term "Urban Area"  can be applied to towns, cities, and suburbs.

(It should be 75% of male working Population doing some Non-Agriculture based work.)

What does Urban Planning means?

Urban planning is a technical and political process concerned with the control of the use of land and design of the urban environment, including transportation networks, to guide and ensure the orderly development of settlements and communities.

It is used as the control of urban development by a local government authority, it is used to do future plans regarding the development of city or some time regarding the up-gradation of and old one.
